TIME DELAY CONTROLLER AND ALARM PANEL is included with each HSPD. A time delay can be adjusted to cut out the UP motion (or other selected motion) for either left or right independently. Normal setting is a one second delay.
Due to the many differences in hoist design, there is no absolute method or standard position for installing the unit. The installer must determine the mounting and positioning.
MOUNTING AND ADJUSTMENT
The Industry Solutions International, Inc.® HSPD (Hoist Side Pull Device) must be mounted in such a way that the arm of the unit hangs down in line with a hoist’s stationery (dead end) rope. This normally entails welding or screw mounting of the mounting plate which the body of the HSPD device is connected. The rope guide (see different model numbers for the correct unit) can then be attached around the rope. Various adjustments are available on the HSPD. Mounting must be done so that the arm of the device can move freely with the rope. The arm is hinged and will move in 4 directions. It is the installer’s decision how to position and mount the device. Various hoists have different possibilities.
The arm is connected to a swivel block which activates the internal switches when excessive side-pulling is detected. The electrical switches are easily adjusted by the installer until the desired radius of allowable pulling angle is exceeded and thus tripped. The switches are locked into place by tightening of a set screw.
Adjustable allen screws are on the body of the Hoist Side Pull Device and limit the travel of the swivel block after the switch positions have been set. These allen screws are adjusted and locked so that once the swivel block has activated the internal switches the hoist up movement stops. Of course, lights or alarms can also be activated.
TIME DELAY CONTROLLER AND ALARM PANEL
A controller which is added to the hoist control panel and includes left and right motion adjustable timers (typically set about a 1-second delay) for motion cutout. It is used in the control panel with a pendant (or radio) connection. It also includes relay connections for alarms or lights to be added if required. You may refer to the attached electrical drawing in this document or the 2018 ISI catalog. It is possible to utilize the HSPD without the controller for instantaneous cut-out but without any provision for timers or alarms (call for information if required).
